Nottingham Food and Drink Festival

Nottingham Food and Drink Festival

Nottingham’s Food and Drink Festival is nearly upon us, promising to be bigger and better than ever before! On 10th and 11th August, Nottingham’s Wollaton Park will be transformed into every foodie’s dream with all manner of food and drink, not to mention some spectacular live entertainment and activities!

There’s plenty to keep you busy: explore the numerous food halls, with their welcome “taste before you buy” approach; enjoy an extravagant “Fruits de Mer” platter at the exclusive “Crab, Stock and 2 Smoking Lobsters” pop up restaurant, which sources its delicious seafood entirely from the UK; explore the extensive real ale marquee, including offerings from several local breweries; and soak up the live music and entertainment in the festival’s hub, the Piazza, with plenty of seating to enjoy your tasty treats! There are cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, including former Coronation Street actor and presenter of The Great Northern Cookbook, Sean Wilson, and fun-loving French chef Jean Christophe Novelli, who has won both 5 out of 5 AA Rosette and Michelin awards.

But it’s not just food on offer: why not try your hand at a new craft, such as glassblowing or chainsaw carving, or take part in a free wine tasting class? Children can try making bread or their own pasta in a Baking Workshop, or even decorate and make their own truffles in the Chocolate Genie workshops. There’s entertainment aplenty on the main stage, with live music of all varieties, and excellent children’s puppetry shows from Pinxton Puppets; and even fairground rides and a bouncy castle!

Take time to explore the grounds of Wollaton Hall, too: the festival’s stunning backdrop is this beautiful sixteenth century, Grade One listed building, which was used as Wayne Manor in 2012 Batman film, Dark Knight Rises. Situated on a natural hill just outside Nottingham’s City Centre, this hidden gem stands amidst five hundred acres of spectacular gardens and parkland, and is home to hundreds of deer – so leave time to amble through these idyllic grounds.

Located just three miles away, the Mercure Nottingham provides the perfect base for your food festivities!
