Goose Fair 2022 Nottingham

Nottingham Goose Fair is back!

It’s been three years since the Goose Fair has graced our wonderful city, with two years of cancellations, Nottingham City Council have announced to stage a ten-day Goose Fair in Nottingham from 30 September to make up for lost time.

Not much information has been divulged in terms of in-depth plans but we know that they are working with the Guild and City partners to make sure that the fair will be delivered in a safe manner with minimum increased impact. The Council has stated this it is committed to making the return of this much-loved event a success for Nottingham residents, and visitors alike.

The Goose Fair is one of Europe’s largest travelling fairs and is one of Nottingham’s oldest traditions, dating back more than 700 years. There is a legend that surrounds the fair, it is claimed that the Festival got its name from when a large flock of geese were driven from Lincolnshire and Norfolk to be sold in Nottingham.

The Goose Fair in Nottingham hasn’t always been hosted in the Forest Recreational Ground, up until 1927 the fair was held at Old Market Square before being moved to its current home. The travelling fair returns of Nottingham annually in October and has over 500 family friendly attractions and rides including an array of Roller Coasters, Water Rides, Giant Wheel, Bombers, Dodgems, Twists, Waltzers and Miamis familiar to Goose Fair; alongside the traditional funfair attractions Gallopers, Chairs and Cakewalk rides.

The Forest Recreation Ground is easily accessible by bus or tram. Use the Nottingham City Council journey planner to find the best route for you. Blue badge event parking at £7 per car is available. There is no public vehicle parking onside aside from Blue Badge holder parking. NET and Nottingham City transport is offering a park and ride bus service from Queen’s Drive Park and Ride.
