Nottingham’s newest bar is cool, in all senses of the word. Located within The Mercure Hotel Nottingham. It’s so cool, deep underground in medieval caves, that revellers might need a faux fur throw from the trunk in the corner to keep cosy Located eight metres beneath the streets of Hockley, the Lost Caves are a new £50,000 addition to the city’s vibrant bar scene.
It’s every bit as dark and atmospheric as you’d imagine, with colour-changing lighting, candles, stuffed pheasants and other curios.
The Lost Caves are beneath the Mercure, Nottingham’s oldest hotel dating back 200 years, and are accessible from Lost Property, the ‘secret’ bar next door. Gin, served in ice-cold frosted glasses and paired with garnishes and aromatic tonics, is the speciality but wine, beer and other drinks are available. And with perfect acoustics, it makes the caves an ideal music venue so live acts and DJs are part of the plan.
